The Coast Guard has seized 600 liters of diesel during illegal transfer for storage in Patenga, Chittagong. The diesel was recovered during a drive near Ghat No. 9 of the Karnaphuli River on Saturday (May 2) midnight.
Coast Guard sources said that based on a secret tip-off, Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted a special operation in the Karnaphuli River area. During the operation around midnight, a suspicious sampan boat was searched in the area. During this time, 600 liters of diesel worth about 69 thousand taka was seized from the boat. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the smugglers quickly fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard has informed that the process of taking further legal action regarding the seized diesel and boat is currently underway. The Coast Guard will continue its zero tolerance campaign in the future to prevent illegal stockpiling of fuel oil and artificial shortages in the market.
