Dhaka South Developers Forum felicitates newly elected REHAB board

The Dhaka South Developers Forum felicitated the newly elected Board of Directors of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB). The felicitation was given at a grand function organized at Fars Hotel and Resort in Purana Paltan, the capital, on Monday (4 May 2026) evening.

Honorable Members of Parliament elected from the housing sector were also felicitated at the function, which is considered a reflection of the government’s approach and policy support towards the housing industry.

Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipul, Member of Parliament elected from Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) constituency, delivered the speech as the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of the housing sector and said that the role of this sector in the development and urbanization of the country is immense. He assured the REHAB leaders that he will work sincerely to provide necessary support for the development of the housing sector and will discuss the relevant issues with the government and policymakers.

In the presence of the chief guest and special guests, the newly elected leadership of REHAB was presented with floral greetings and a memento of honor. REHAB President Dr. Ali Afzal, Senior Vice President Abdur Razzak and members of the Board of Directors were present at the event. Also present were Mohammad Akhter Biswas, Abu Khalid Md. Barkat Ullah, A.F.M. Obaidullah, Mohammad Morshedul Hasan and other directors of REHAB and Dr. Md. Harun Or Rashid, Vice President (Finance) of REHAB and General Secretary of Dhaka South Developer Forum.

The event was presided over by Md. Fakhrul Islam, Member of Parliament and President of Dhaka South Developers Forum.

The speakers said in their speeches that the housing sector is an important driving force in the country’s economy. The contribution of this sector in employment generation, infrastructure development and urbanization is very important. They expressed confidence in the newly elected board and said that the new leadership will play an effective role in making the housing sector stronger and more dynamic by facing the current challenges.

REHAB President Dr. Ali Afzal thanked the Dhaka South Developers Forum in his speech and said that this reception will further motivate the newly elected board to fulfill its responsibilities. He emphasized the coordinated efforts of all parties concerned to solve the existing problems of the housing sector.

Senior Vice President Abdur Razzak said that although the housing sector is currently facing various challenges, it is possible to turn this sector around through proper policy support and planning. He expressed his determination to work jointly with the government.

The speakers at the event emphasized on policy support, easy credit facilities, tax structure reforms and long-term planning for the development of the housing sector. He also called for ensuring sustainable development in urban planning.

The event was held in a lively atmosphere and was attended by entrepreneurs, developers, policymakers and stakeholders from various levels of the housing sector.
