BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) was crowned champion of SMC Plus Presents KickFest-2026, defeating World University of Bangladesh (WUB) 3–1 on a penalty shoot-out after an intensely contested final at BRAC University on Wednesday (6 May 2026), a press release said.
BUFT received Tk 50,000 in prize money, while WUB Tk 30,000. Rejaul Islam Hero from BUFT was also named “Most Valuable Player” and awarded Tk 5,000.
Besides, Md Moshiur Rahman from BUFT was adjudged “Best Goalkeeper”, Abdul Kader Pavel from WUB “Top Scorer” and Md. Moshiur Rahman from BUFT “Man of the Final”.
Organized by BRAC University Sports & Fitness in collaboration with BRAC University Football Club marking the upcoming 25th anniversary of BRAC University, the two-day inter-university tournament was held on May 5–6, 2026.
The contest brought together 12 leading private universities for a vibrant showcase of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
After the qualifying and quarterfinal rounds, eight teams advanced: BRACU, NSU, EWU, BUFT, ULAB, IUT, DIU, and WUB. The competition then narrowed to four semifinalists: BUFT, IUT, DIU, and WUB.
Md Wahid Uddin Chowdhury (Happy), vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation, was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Other distinguished guests included Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University; Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr. David Dowland, Registrar; Tahsina Rahman, Head of Student Life; Mohammad Tanvir Hossain, FCCA, ACMA, CGMA, Head of Finance, SMC Enterprise; and Sher A Mohammad Tabib, CEO & Founder, HUNKER.
