DHAKA : LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir underscored the need for waging a strong social movement alongside application of law to prevent social menace rape.

In a Facebook post from his verified page, he strongly condemned the recent several rape incidents describing it as a sign of moral degradation.

“The incidents of rape, child abuse, and murder are not isolated events; rather, they are a horrifying reflection of years of moral decay, social irresponsibility, and the rapid decline of human values,” he said adding “We are committed to making every possible effort against this inhumane crime”.

Fakhrul, also BNP secretary general, said the government is committed to continuing comprehensive efforts against this inhumane crime.

He said only laws or government initiatives alone are not enough. “What is needed is a strong national social movement. Families, schools, madrasas, teachers, religious leaders, the media, social organizations, and every citizen must come forward,” he said.

He underlined teaching children about respect, humanity, responsibility, and the dignity of women.
“Ensuring the safety of our children means securing the future of Bangladesh. Let us all join together in this struggle for change,” he said.
