Dhaka : The Office of External Affairs of North South University (NSU), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Bangladesh, successfully hosted Kosovo Film Day 2025 on 25 June 2025, to commemorate the anniversary of Kosovo’s Liberation Day, according to a press release.
The event was graced by His Excellency Lulzim PLLANA, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Bangladesh, as the Guest of Honor. Several other distinguished diplomats and delegates from various embassies, ministries, and universities attended, lending international stature to the celebration. Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (in Charge) of North South University, inaugurated the event with welcome remarks. In his speech, he emphasized the value of cultural exchange in global education. The day-long festival featured the screening of three internationally acclaimed Kosovan films that reflect the country’s journey, resilience, and cultural identity:
- Hive (2021) – Directed by Blerta Basholli
- Cold November (2018) – Directed by Ismet Sijarina
- The Hero (2019) – Directed by Luan Kryeziu
The event commenced with an opening session followed by back-to-back screenings that engaged the audience with powerful storytelling and moving visuals from Kosovo’s contemporary cinema. NSU students, film enthusiasts, and international guests filled the auditorium throughout the day. In his remarks, Ambassador PLLANA expressed gratitude for NSU’s partnership and emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. He noted that cinema provides a compelling medium for countries to share their narratives with the world. Kosovo Film Day 2025 not only offered students an opportunity to engage with global cinema but also served as a meaningful platform for celebrating international friendship and dialogue through the arts.
