Cantonment College Jashore (CCJ) stands as a distinguished educational institution in Bangladesh, nestled in the serene and scenic surroundings of Jashore Cantonment. Run by the direct guidance and leadership of the Bangladesh Army, CCJ offers a calm, pollution-free environment ideal for academic pursuits. Known for its academic standards and discipline, the college is supported by a dedicated team of experienced faculty members, making it one of the most esteemed institutions in the region.It is the first institution established by the Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonments (DMLC) under the Ministry of Defence. It began its journey on 01 July 1969 with just 5 students at Dawood Public School. In 1983, the institution was relocated to its current campus. In 1995, the college launched undergraduate courses in BA, BSS, BCom, and BSc. Later, under the guidance of Late General Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Honours programs were introduced in 1996, followed by Postgraduate courses in 1999.
In 2002, this institution was recognized as the best college in Bangladesh. In the inaugural GPA-based examination held in 2003, a student from the college earned a GPA of 5, the sole achiever of this feat under the Jashore Education Board. The college proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary, the ‘Golden Jubilee’, in 2019. At present, the college provides education in Science, Humanities, and Business Studies at the higher secondary level, along with Degree (Pass), Honours, and Post-Graduate programs. In 2015, it became a public college, and in 2022, it was honored as the best educational institution in Khulna Division during National Education Week.
The college’s reputation continues to rise steadily due to the relentless dedication of its capable governing body, experienced faculty, enthusiastic students, and supportive parents. Beyond academics, the institution actively promotes cultural and co-curricular activities to enhance students’ creativity and aesthetic sensibilities. BNCC cadets enjoy the privilege of attending the ISSB without having to sit for the preliminary exams, and students can also use the on-campus ISSB practice ground. With unwavering commitment, CCJ remains devoted to guiding students toward academic success and strong moral character development. Each year, the college arranges study tours that help strengthen the bond between teachers and students through shared experiences. The institution also has a dedicated alumni association that actively maintains a strong connection with the college and works to foster meaningful relationships between former and current students and faculty members.
The college is well-equipped with modern technology and IT resources. It maintains its own website, allowing students to access important information such as various notices, academic calender, and other academic updates. Examination results and report cards are delivered through a dynamic website operated under a Software Management System.
With approximately 3500 students and around 70 dedicated teachers, the vibrant and active involvement of all contributes to the college’s continued distinction. Students are offered the opportunity to pursue their preferred streams—Science, Business Studies and Humanities—based on their interests and academic merit. To support co-curricular engagement, the college operates three designated houses. The institution boasts an impressive track record of nearly 100% pass rates in public examinations, along with a high number of students achieving GPA 5.
