A comprehensive educational workshop on mental health awareness was successfully held on Saturday at the Navy Convention Centre in Chattogram, organized by LifeSpring, a leading mental health institution in Bangladesh. The daylong event aimed to promote mental health education, advocacy, and early intervention strategies across diverse segments of society.
Participants included students, educators, corporate professionals, and homemakers all of whom engaged enthusiastically in sessions focused on identifying signs of psychological distress and guiding individuals toward appropriate support systems.
The event was presided over by Dr. Sayedul Ashraf Kushal, Managing Director of LifeSpring, who addressed the audience on the topic of depression and effective coping mechanisms. “Depression is not a weakness it is a condition that demands empathy, awareness, and timely support,” Dr. Kushal emphasized in his keynote speech.
Abhijit Nath, a psychologist at LifeSpring’s Chattogram branch, conducted a detailed session on anxiety symptoms, anger management, and broader mental health challenges. He provided practical tools and insight to help participants become proactive advocates for mental well-being within their communities.
The workshop concluded with a vibrant open discussion and Q&A session, where participants shared personal stories and received expert advice. Attendees lauded the event as a much-needed and timely initiative, noting that it had significantly broadened their understanding of mental health.
Prominent guests at the workshop included Commander Jakaria Pervaz, Principal of Navy Anchorage School & College and Bangladesh Navy School & College, Chattogram; Lieutenant Commander Md. Sharif, Principal of Asha’r Alo Chattogram; Lieutenant Commander Shanholota Roy, Training Coordinating Officer at BNS Issa Khan; and Sub Lieutenant Sharif Adnan, Public Relations Officer and Commander of Chattogram Naval Area.
The program was also attended by senior representatives from the Bangladesh Army, corporate leaders from City Group and Bashundhara Group, and educators from top institutions including Sunshine Grammar School, Al-Hidayah International School, and Chattogram Sunshine College.
Mr. Yahia Amin, Chairman of LifeSpring, and renowned medical expert Dr. Shusama Reza were also present.
LifeSpring representatives affirmed their commitment to organizing similar events across the country to promote the message that mental health is just as vital as physical health.
