Dhaka : North South University’s (NSU) Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Programme, in partnership with the ESG Institute Bangladesh, successfully hosted the ESG Masterclass on 24 and 25 July 2025. This high-profile initiative brought together CEOs and Board Directors from several publicly listed companies in Bangladesh, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles at the highest levels of corporate leadership, according to a press release.
The sessions were expertly conducted by Joanne Flinn, CEO of the ESG Institute, Singapore, who led the participants through a dynamic and practice-oriented exploration of ESG frameworks, strategies, and global best practices.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Dr Muhammad Faisol Chowdhury, Associate Professor and Director of the NSU BBA Programme. Dr Chowdhury emphasised the significance of industry-academia collaboration in promoting ESG awareness and capacity-building across sectors. He also highlighted NSU’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability and responsible governance into its academic and outreach activities.
The workshop was further attended by Professor AKM Waresul Karim, Dean, School of Business Economics, Professor Dr Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director of the North South Social Impact Initiative, Professor Dr Nazlee Siddiqui, Director of the MBA and EMBA Programmes, along with other distinguished faculty members from NSU, whose presence reinforced the university’s collective support for sustainability-driven education and professional development.Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of North South University, delivered the closing remarks, underscoring NSU’s institutional commitment to ESG issues through research, curriculum, and partnerships. He reaffirmed the University’s role as a leading platform for nurturing future leaders who are not only business-savvy but also socially responsible. The two-day ESG Masterclass is part of NSU’s broader mission to advance ethical leadership and sustainable business practices in Bangladesh and beyond.
