Dhaka : For the first time, the country has witnessed the Inter-university Go-Kart Championship. On the occasion of World Friendship Day, 50 students selected from 12 universities across Bangladesh participated in this unique competition, organized by Nagad, a mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Postal Department, a press release said.

The racing championship crowned a winner following hard-fought rounds, including group-based qualifiers, semifinals, and a super-exciting final, played among competitors all day long at Fantasy Kingdom Theme Park in Savar. United International University student Sakib Ibn Sayed emerged as the champion, winning a prize of BDT 50,000 and a champion’s trophy.  While expressing his winning reactions, Sakib said, “This competition will inspire more youth to take an interest in motor racing and encourage them to participate in international races in the future.”

Zubayer Hossain, a student at Ahsanullah University of Science Technology, came out as the first runner-up and received BDT 30,000 along with a trophy, while the second runner-up was Sayed Hossain Chandan, a student at United International University, who won a prize of BDT 20,000 and a trophy.  The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Khandaker Shahnur Sabbir, assistant administrator of Nagad and deputy postmaster general, BPO. While distributing prizes to the winners, he congratulated all participants and expressed his admiration, saying, “I am truly impressed by the enthusiastic participation of the youth in such a unique event. Motorsports is still a new domain in Bangladesh, which offers opportunity for young people to gain experience.” At the event, the Chief Marketing Officer of Nagad Symon Imran Hyder said, “Nagad has always stood with the dynamism of youth and will continue to do so.  We believe that the progressive and innovative spirit of the younger generation will drive Bangladesh toward economic prosperity.” He also said Nagad plans to organize such events on a larger scale in the future to encourage the youth’s interest in sports and their willingness to take on challenges.  Nagad firmly believes that, in addition to academic learning, real-world and creative activities are essential for shaping the country’s future leadership.  Supporting the youth means driving Bangladesh’s future forward. This arrangement is a step in that journey.
