ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY : Islamic University (IU) authorities today observed the July Mass Uprising Day with various programmes.
The day began with a rally participated by students, teachers, and officials. The rally concluded at the Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman Central Auditorium after parading the main roads of the campus.
Following the rally, a discussion was held at the auditorium with IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah in the chair. Editor of the Daily Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman addressed the event as chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeaqub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam were present as special guests.
Convener of the July Uprising Celebration Committee Prof Dr Shahinuzzaman delivered the welcome speech.
Student leaders including SM Sweet, Chhatra Dal IU Unit Convener Sahed Ahammed, Chhatra Shibir President Mahmudul Hasan, Jamiat Talaba Arabia President Mahmudul Hasan, Chhatra Andolon President Ismail Hossain Rahat, and Chhatra Majlis President Sadek Ahmed also spoke at the event.
Later, prizes were distributed among winners of various contests based on the July Uprising.
