As part of ongoing efforts to make Mobile Financial Services (MFS) more secure and combat its misuse in criminal activities, a workshop on “Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services” was held in Chattogram. A total of 120 investigating officers of Chattogram district police attended this day-long workshop, organized by Chattogram district police and bKash, at the police lines drill shed. The workshop provided detailed insights into how to use information gathered about criminal syndicates to identify them and bring them under the law, a press release said.

To date, 4,500 officials from various law enforcement bodies have benefited from these sessions held across the country.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General (Promoted to the post of Additional Inspector General of Police) Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, BPM-Services. Also present at the workshop were Chattogram District SP Saiful Islam Shantu BPM (BAR), Dr Md Nazibur Rahman, former additional IGP of Bangladesh Police and advisor to bKash, NDC and Major A. K. M. Monirul Karim (retd), EVP & HoD, External Affairs of bKash, along with other senior officials from Chattogram District Police and bKash.

The workshop covered several issues, such as how investigating officers can use advent technology to track down lost money of the customers; prevent criminal activities like kidnapping through digital transaction monitoring; and how to easily communicate with bKash officials for investigation purposes. In addition, the workshops shed light on what immediate steps can be taken when a criminal incident occurs.

The trackable nature of digital transactions empowers investigators from the Police, DB, CID, and PBI to effectively combat crime.  bKash reinforces this capability through its “Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services” workshops, held regularly for law enforcement personnel since 2017.
