DHAKA : New steps have been taken to modernize and technology-based the commercial holding tax collection system of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC). An MoU was signed between CCC, B-Trac Solutions and Mileage on Monday to make the tax payment process easy, transparent and accountable for taxpayers, a press release said.
Under the agreement, CCC’s commercial holding tax collection activities will be completely converted to a cloud-based software system. This new digital platform will have real-time reporting, data analysis and tracking facilities, which will bring transparency and efficiency to tax administration. Citizens will be able to pay taxes easily through online banking, mobile banking, ATM or cash counter.
Speaking as the chief guest at the agreement signing ceremony, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, “Technology-based administration is the need of the hour. We want to completely transform the commercial holding tax collection system into a digital platform, so that institutions can easily pay holding tax. This will not only increase revenue, but also reduce corruption and harassment.’
He also said that the administrative activities of the Chittagong City Corporation are gradually being fully automated. If this project is implemented, transparency and accountability in tax collection will be ensured and citizens will get real-time information.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary of the Chittagong City Corporation Md. Ashraful Amin, Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, Revenue Officer Md. Sabbir Rahman Sunny; Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Mohammed Tanvir Siddique and Head of Project Safayet Abdullah were present on behalf of B-Trac Solutions.
Mileage’s Chief Executive Officer Engineer Tahsin-ul-Islam, Director Riasat Islam Fardin, Managing Director Abrar Rafid Chowdhury and Chief Information Officer Akhiyar Noor.
