North South University (NSU) has been ranked 149th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, published on November 4, 2025. With this result, NSU has once again secured its position as the number one private university in Bangladesh and the second-best university in the country overall, including both public and private institutions, a press release said.
This year, the QS Asia University Rankings 2026 assessed a record 1,526 universities across 25 Asian countries, with 46 Bangladeshi universities participating. NSU’s advancement from 155th last year to 149th this year marks a significant milestone—entering the Top 150 in Asia for the first time, reaffirming the university’s commitment to excellence in higher education, research, and innovation.
Additionally, in the regional section of QS World University Rankings: Southern Asia, North South University has been ranked 18th, standing just behind the University of Dhaka (17th). This recognition further highlights NSU’s growing regional and international prominence.
Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, remarked that this achievement is a testament to the collective effort and dedication of the entire NSU community, students, faculty, staff, and alumni, whose relentless pursuit of quality and innovation continues to drive the university forward. He also expressed his satisfaction at the growing number of Bangladeshi universities represented in the QS rankings this year.
