DIU celebrates Bengali harvest festival ‘Nabanno e Bangaliyana 2.0’

Daffodil International University (DIU) is proudly announcing that the traditional folk festival “Nabanno e Bangaliyana 2.0” is being celebrated on Saturday on the university campus. Organized by the DIU Change Together Club, the daylong festival is creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with agrarian culture, folk arts, music, theatre, and knowledge-based discussions, a press release said.

Thursday (20 November), students from 17 universities across the country are participating in the event, showcasing their traditional attire, folk art, and agricultural heritage. Their creative performances are bringing the true essence of Nabanno and Bengali rural culture across the campus.

As part of the festival, a seminar titled “The Contribution of Agriculture to Bangladesh’s Economy” is being conducted, where expert speakers are sharing insights on Bangladesh’s agricultural heritage, the socio-cultural significance of Nabanno, and the prospects of modern farming technologies. Additionally, a village fair, Nakshi Kantha exhibition, doodle art, folk music, and folk dance performances are enchanting the audience throughout the day.

According to the organizers, the festival is helping the younger generation reconnect with the cultural roots of Bengal while fostering greater appreciation for the traditions surrounding Nabanno. Various competitions are being held as part of the festival, and the results are as follows:

Folk Dance Category 1st — Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology 2nd — Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University 3rd — North South University
