BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprise and bKash jointly organised digital literacy workshops for farmers in North Bengal. These sessions aim to make agricultural production, marketing and everyday financial transactions cashless, simple and secure. The initiative is designed to promote financial inclusion in the agricultural sector and help marginal farmers adopt safe digital transactions through services like bKash. Recently, three awareness workshops were held in Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, and Panchagarh with the participation of 875 farmers, a press release said.
In rural economies, where access to financial services is limited and cash transactions involve risks and hassles, farmers can now avail all essential financial services from home. Through bKash accounts, they can access these services 24/7 and become more self-reliant and independent in managing their finances.
The training covered opening a bKash wallet, setting up and protecting PIN confidentiality, ways to prevent fraud, using the app and USSD codes for almost all daily transactions, and details about cash-out procedures and costs at agent points. Additionally, farmers received guidance on timely payment collection and financial planning to make money management easier.
Empowering farmers with digital transaction skills not only strengthens their financial security but also drives the transformation of the country’s agricultural sector into a modern, technology-driven industry. These initiatives are making digital payments more accessible in rural areas, bringing essential financial services right to people’s doorsteps and making everyday life easier.
