Rooftop hangouts, campus-to-café hopping, and long days spent shuttling between classes and social spots are redefining how young Bangladeshis choose smartphones. Retailers report that today’s Gen-Z buyers are increasingly prioritising slimness, hand-feel, style, and all-day battery support — a shift that is reshaping the demand for mid-range devices, a press release said.

Across major campuses including DU, BRAC University, NSU and CUET, students are spending extended hours outside classrooms. Their routines often include group project sessions, rooftop meetups, sunset photography, gaming breaks and late-evening hangouts.

With backpacks already filled with laptops, books and accessories, students now want a phone that is lightweight, durable and comfortable to carry throughout the day.

Mobile retailers in Bashundhara, Mirpur and Uttara say that this lifestyle shift has increased demand for smartphones with slim profiles and expressive design. One device being frequently selected in this trend is the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+, particularly for its slimmest 3D-curved display in the price range, which many buyers say “feels premium without the premium price.”

Its Gen-Z focused color-pop design and Sony IMX882 sensor of 50MP camera bump design are also generating interest among young consumers who prefer phones doubling as style accessories.

Battery life has become another priority as students often leave home early and return late. Retailers highlighted growing interest in the 155g lightweight HOT 60 Pro+ for its large 5160mAh battery, which supports a full day of mobility from morning classes to evening gatherings — without requiring mid-day charging. Combined with its safe charging features, the device is becoming a preferred option among campus-goers who spend long hours outdoors.

The visual appeal is also influencing buying patterns. With rooftop hangouts and sunset sessions turning into everyday rituals, youth are opting for devices that look good in social settings and can capture moments effortlessly. The HOT 60 Pro+’s slim grip, curved edges, and distinct camera arrangement are among the features students frequently mention while comparing devices at stores.

Industry observers say that as Gen-Z lifestyles continue shifting toward outdoor social spaces, smartphone brands will increasingly compete on design, comfort, durability and all-day usage. This new generation of buyers is driving a market where a device must be more than a gadget — it must fit their aesthetic, mobility, and daily rhythm.
