With a view to exploiting the investment potential of Bangladeshi businessmen in Djibouti and increasing Bangladeshi exports, the Honorable Ambassador of Djibouti, Abdillahi Assoeh Issa, addressed the media at a press conference at a hotel in the capital this morning. The Ambassador also spoke about the visit of a Bangladeshi business delegation to Djibouti in January, a press release said.
Abdillahi Assoeh Issa said that Djibouti is in a very attractive geostrategic position. Being located at the commercial gateway of Africa, the Middle East and Asia and having infrastructural and security facilities in the country, Djibouti can be an attractive destination for Bangladeshi businessmen.
Abdul Haque, Honorary Consul of Djibouti in Bangladesh, spoke at the press conference. He mentioned that our investors can utilize tax exemption facilities and favorable production environment in Djibouti’s economic zones for the purpose of export diversification. He mentioned that there is immense potential for Bangladesh to invest and expand its business in the African country of Djibouti, in addition to the United States and various European countries.
Business leaders from Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector, textile, electronics, pharmaceutical and food processing industry sectors were present at the event.
It is to be noted that Bangladesh is currently exporting ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, jute and jute products, tea, home textiles and beverages to Djibouti.
