Leaders of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) met with National Housing Authority Chairman Ferdousi Begum. A 7-member delegation of REHAB, led by REHAB Senior Vice President Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan, met her at her office today. REHAB Vice President Mohammad Akhter Biswas, Vice President Eng. Abdul Latif, REHAB Director A.F.M. Obaidullah, Miah Selim Raja Pintu, Miraj Moktadir and Sheikh Kamal were present at the time, a press release said.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the National Housing Authority called on REHAB members to construct affordable flats for the common people and to construct flats through PPP method.
The meeting discussed resolving the ongoing crisis in the housing sector, expediting the implementation of the notification related to sale permission, and overall cooperation in various works of the housing sector including the Rehab Fair.
The Rehab leaders said that the housing sector is making an important contribution to the country’s economy. However, the sector is facing challenges due to high interest rates on loans and policy complications. They opined that government cooperation is very important in solving these problems.
The Chairman of the National Housing Authority said that the government will continue to provide necessary policy support to advance the housing sector. The government and the private sector will have to work together to ensure affordable and quality housing for the common people. At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their determination to take more coordinated initiatives in the future.
