BNP withdraws expulsion order for former organizer

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has withdrawn the expulsion order imposed on Riyad Mohammad Chowdhury, former Organising Secretary of BNP’s Fatullah Thana unit, and reinstated his primary party membership after nearly nine months.

The decision was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday, January 1. The press release was issued under reference number BNP/General/77/244/2025.

According to the press statement, Riyad Mohammad Chowdhury, former Organising Secretary of Fatullah Thana BNP under Narayanganj district, had earlier been expelled from the party, including the cancellation of his primary membership, on charges of breaching party discipline. Following his application and in line with the party’s decision, the expulsion order has now been withdrawn and his primary membership restored.

The press release further stated that the decision would come into effect immediately. The party also expressed hope that Riyad Mohammad Chowdhury would play an active and constructive role in strengthening and energising the party by strictly adhering to its principles and discipline.
