Saudi King, Crown Prince condole over Khaleda Zia’s death

DHAKA : Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have expressed condolences to Bangladesh over the death of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, praying for divine mercy and extending sympathies to her bereaved family.

Saudi King Salman, also Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in a condolence cable sent on Thursday to President Mohammed Shahabuddin, prayed that Almighty Allah grant eternal peace to Begum Khaleda Zia, forgive her sins and admit her into paradise.

The King also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family members of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent a similar message of condolence.

Begum Khaleda Zia, who breathed her last on December 30, 2025 at the age of 80, was laid to eternal rest with full state honor beside her husband Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s grave at Zia Udyan in the capital on December 31, 2025.
