North South University (NSU) successfully held its 26th Convocation on January 7, 2026, at the NSU campus, marking a significant academic milestone for the university and its graduating students, a press release said.
The Honourable Adviser to the Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, attended the ceremony as the Convocation Chair. At the same time, Professor SMA Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, delivered the convocation address. Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the UGC, was present as a special guest.
A total of 3,322 undergraduate and graduate students were awarded degrees during the Convocation. Among them, the Department of Architecture proudly celebrated the graduation of 36 students, reflecting the department’s continued commitment to academic excellence and professional rigor.
Of the graduating architecture students, five achieved Cum Laude, four earned Magna Cum Laude, and one received the prestigious Summa Cum Laude distinction.
Mr. Nahin Iqbal Chowdhury attained the highest CGPA in the Department of Architecture and was awarded Summa Cum Laude, marking an outstanding academic achievement.
Parents and family members of the graduating students were present at the ceremony, many of whom expressed their gratitude and satisfaction with the academic environment and support provided by North South University. Special appreciation was conveyed to the Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences Prof. Dr. Shazzad Hosain, Department of Architecture, particularly to Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Chair of the Department, and faculty members Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Professor Dr. Sharif Shams Imon, and Professor Mujtaba Ahsan, who were present at the ceremony and participated in the distribution of certificates among the graduating students.
The successful participation and achievements of the Department of Architecture graduates at the 26th Convocation underscore NSU’s role in shaping future architects equipped with strong academic foundations, ethical values, and professional competence to contribute meaningfully to the built environment of Bangladesh and beyond.
