APBn, bKash hold workshop to prevent MFS misuse ahead of election

To raise awareness and prevent the misuse of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) during the upcoming national election, bKash and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have jointly organised a special day-long workshop. The workshop featured in-depth discussions on identifying and preventing digital transaction-based crimes and leveraging intelligence to bring criminal syndicates to justice, a press release said.

40 APBn officials participated in the workshop held recently at the training centre of APBn Headquarters. Armed Police Battalion Chief and Additional IGP Md Ali Hossain Fakir attended the workshop as the chief guest. Former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police and Advisor to bKash Dr. Md. Nazibur Rahman, NDC, attended as special guest. Deputy Inspector General (Administration) Md. Nazrul Islam, NDC; Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr. Md. Al Mamunul Ansari; EVP & HoD, External Affairs of bKash Major A. K. M. Monirul Karim (retd) and senior officials from both APBn and bKash were also present during the workshop.

The session delved into the various crime patterns involving the misuse of MFS platforms, the identification of criminal syndicates through data analysis, and advanced strategies for monitoring digital transactions. Participants were briefed on the use of technology for recovering stolen money, preventing fraud and kidnapping‑related transactions, and how to coordinate quickly with bKash officials during emergencies. The workshop also explained the dedicated communication channels of bKash, created to ensure fast and effective support during investigations.

Through this training, law enforcement officials enhanced their knowledge and technical skills to combat digital financial crimes. Additionally, the workshop strengthened coordination and information-sharing mechanisms between the two sides. The chief guest expressed that such preparations will play a crucial role in preventing potential digital transaction–based crimes during the upcoming national election.
