A comprehensive fire drill was successfully conducted at United City Twin Tower Developers Ltd.’s Gulshan Centre Point (GCP) on Tuesday, 27 January, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD). The exercise aimed to strengthen fire prevention readiness, enhance firefighting skills, and reinforce emergency rescue and evacuation procedures in a high-rise commercial environment, a press release said.
The drill featured the deployment of advanced firefighting and rescue equipment, including a turntable ladder for high-rise rescue, water carrier, water pump vehicle, ambulance, and rope rappelling systems, simulating real-life emergency response conditions.
As part of the scenario, occupants were evacuated using trolleys, wheelchairs, and manual carry techniques, demonstrating effective rescue procedures for injured and mobility-impaired individuals. The exercise highlighted coordinated evacuation practices and swift response under emergency conditions.
The drill was led by Sayed Monirul Islam, Senior Station Officer, Fire Service and Civil Defence, Baridhara Station. Also present was United Group Fire Marshal, Engineer Mohammad Tariqul Islam, who emphasized that regular fire drills are conducted to ensure emergency preparedness, raise occupant awareness, and maintain full compliance with national fire safety regulations.
Gulshan Centre Point (GCP) is a prominent high-rise commercial complex accommodating over 2,500 occupants daily, including several leading local and international corporate offices. The drill saw active participation from the Security In-Charge, Building In-Charge, and representatives of various tenant organizations, ensuring a coordinated and orderly evacuation throughout the premises.
FSCD officials and management representatives expressed satisfaction with the overall execution of the drill, reiterating that such exercises are vital for strengthening emergency response capabilities and safeguarding occupants in high-rise commercial buildings.
