Today’s children are tomorrow’s future. A child is considered as the future leader of the country.
But when children are neglected, it affects society and the state. Around us, we constantly see thousands of children working in different shops or brick kilns or other fields instead of studying or playing sports and they are abused in various ways in these places. But the constitution clearly mentions the rights and safety of children. Mainly in Article 28(4) of the constitution of Bangladesh, special provisions and security are mentioned for the advancement of women and children. In addition, Article 15, 17 and 19 of the Constitution ensure the safety and welfare of children by ensuring basic needs, compulsory education and equality of opportunity. Therefore, providing safety and security to children is the main moral and constitutional responsibility of the state. The “Child Act 2013” enacted by the Government of Bangladesh in 2013 aims to protect the rights of children, ensure their welfare and prevent all forms of violence and neglect. The said Act is in line with the United Nations Charter on the Rights of the Child UNCRC, which is designed to ensure the best interests, equality, protection and development of children.Although laws are enacted in the interest of children, the reality is different.Children are being deprived of their real rights, protection and cooperation.According to the laws of Bangladesh, everyone under the age of 18 is a child. It is legally prohibited to engage them in work that is contrary to their physical and mental development or dangerous. But in reality the opposite picture is being observed which is a serious problem in Bangladesh.
Millions of children in the country are involved in child labour. There are many poor, depressed, ignorant, unaware families who put the responsibility of their support on their children. Many engage children in dangerous jobs like begging, scavenging, selling flowers on the streets, and even brick kilns. In the bustling streets of the city, you can often see small children walking on the sidewalks with flowers in their hands, and many children carrying water bottles. They are selling water in public transports. Many times it can be seen that small children are working in the smelly dusty environment. While studying in school, playing sports, enjoying life, being happy, growing up in the shadow of the family, they are taking care of the family, doing business. As a result, their life is becoming dark and colorless from childhood. Because of that, their physical and mental development is being hindered.Due to the dirt,
filth and dust, various diseases settle inside them from childhood. Due to which their lives are often disrupted. They have to leave before they can taste survival. There are many poverty families in the village who send their sons and daughters to the city to work. Many girls are given to work in various homes where they are often subjected to physical and mental abuse and live in an environment of insecurity and fear. Children are also employed in garment factories.Where if they make a mistake, they have to listen to all kinds of harsh words and insults, which affects their mental development. Even in dangerous fields like brick kilns, children are constantly working tirelessly. They can never imagine a beautiful and fair life. As a result, their future becomes dark and the society and the state are also likely to deteriorate. Apart from forced labor, child abuse has become another social problem. Many families and institutions punish children for their mistakes. Where they should be taught tolerance, discipline, gentleness, compassion,They are abused physically and mentally which has a bad effect on a child. This abuse of children is increasing day by day.The root cause of this problem is the lack of proper implementation of the law despite the existence of the law. In order to eliminate the problem, the state should provide compulsory education for children, free books and school matching and implement appropriate laws. Rehabilitation of needy families should be ensured so that no child has to work for the sake of life.Important. Child abuse and child labor is not only a social problem, it is a direct blow to the future of the state. If the child who is supposed to be in school today, is supposed to grow up in sports and a healthy environment, is subjected to labor, torture and neglect, then it will be impossible to build a healthy, efficient and humane society in the future. To overcome this situation, the state, society and family all need joint efforts.Effective social security programs should be strengthened to alleviate the poverty of families involved in child labour.Proper implementation of the Children Act should be ensured and violators should be given exemplary punishment. In addition, media, educational institutions and social organizations should increase public awareness about child rights.
The most important thing is that children are not an object of income. Children are the future of our country. Every person should keep this in mind and take proper measures for the proper development of children. Only if children’s safety and rights can be ensured, it will be possible to build a humane, developed and enlightened Bangladesh. moral education, forgiveness and kindness, they are subjected to punishment, humiliation and torture from those educational institutions.
