North South University’s (NSU) Career & Placement Center (CPC) hosts a seminar in tribute to International Women’s Day titled “Her Leadership, Her Legacy: Shaping Careers, Shaping Tomorrow” today. The event transformed the campus into a space of profound reflection and empowerment, bringing together a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students to discuss the evolving role of women in the global workforce. By centering the conversation on professional excellence and the weight of personal legacy, the university reaffirmed its deep commitment to fostering a culture where leadership is defined by both impact and integrity, a press release said.
The seminar was anchored by an esteemed panel of trailblazers, led by Chief Guest Barrister Rashna Imam, a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Drawing from her extensive experience in the legal arena, Barrister Imam shared moving insights on how to navigate high-pressure professional environments with resilience and an unwavering moral compass. Her perspective was complemented by the academic leadership of Dr. Farzana Nahid, Director of the Career & Placement Center, alongside Dr. Nazlee Siddiqui, Professor and Director of MBA/EMBA Programs, and Dr. Nazia Manzoor, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of English & Modern Languages. Together, these leaders provided a multi-disciplinary look at how mentorship and institutional support are not just helpful tools for individual growth but essential foundations for building a more equitable future.
Beyond celebrating professional milestones, the seminar bravely addressed the pressing social challenges facing women in Bangladesh today. In a deeply evocative turn, the speakers engaged in a critical dialogue regarding the recent rise in sexual assault incidents, emphasizing that career development cannot be separated from the fundamental right to safety. Barrister Rashna Imam highlighted the vital role of the legal system and public accountability, urging the audience to remain vigilant and informed of their rights. The panel collectively called for a shift in societal culture, one that actively challenges harassment and demands stronger reporting mechanisms and collective responsibility within both public and professional spaces.
The discourse served as a bridge between classroom learning and the complex realities of real-world leadership. By the end of the session, the message to the students was clear: preventing gender-based violence and achieving professional success are shared responsibilities that require collaboration across all levels of society. The Career & Placement Center of North South University remains dedicated to these impactful initiatives, ensuring that its students are not only prepared to excel in their careers but are also equipped to lead with courage in the pursuit of a more just, safe, and inclusive world.
