The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic collaboration and strengthen pathways for professional development in the field of accounting and management, a press release said.
The MoU was signed on Monday, 9 March 2026, at the ULAB premises by S. M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President and Chairman of the Education Committee of ICMAB, and Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both institutions. From ICMAB, the attendees included Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, President; Monjur Md. Shaiful Azam FCMA, Secretary; Professor Dr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman FCMA, Treasurer; and Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director and Head of the Academic Affairs Division. Representing ULAB were Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, Treasurer; Professor Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, PhD, Dean of the ULAB School of Business; Associate Professor A. F. Wazir Ahmed, PhD, Director of the BBA Program; along with Sajedul Alam, Senior Lecturer, Naima Khatun, Senior Lecturer, and other faculty members of the ULAB School of Business.
Under the agreement, students and graduates of ULAB will be able to pursue the Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) qualification with course exemptions and admission scholarships offered by ICMAB. The collaboration will also facilitate joint initiatives in areas of mutual academic and professional interest.

I encourage our faculty members to actively nurture this collaboration through innovative academic initiatives that will further strengthen professional education,” said Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB.

This collaboration will play an important role in advancing excellence, innovation, and professional standards in the accounting profession while creating new opportunities for aspiring management accountants,” said Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, President of ICMAB.
Participants from both institutions welcomed the initiative and expressed their commitment to working together to achieve the objectives outlined in the MoU.
