Praising the Bangladeshi diaspora living in Italy, Ambassador of Italy in Dhaka Antonio Alessandro has laid emphasis on mobility of creative personalities between Bangladesh and Italy.
Antonio Alessandro was speaking at a press conference at his Gulshan residence on Monday on the occasion of the ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2026
He said the mobility of human resources into Italy has some challenges that both countries can work out together .
He said energy is limited in the world in the present world and architects and designers can help reduce energy consumption in the industry
He said some 250,000 Bangladeshis are well integrated in Italian society and contributing to the economies of both Bangladesh and Italy.
He said that a new generation of Bangladeshis are being migrated into Italy that will shape relations between both countries in the coming days.
He said the Bangladeshi diaspora in Italy is the second in terms of number in Europe after the highest number in the United Kingdom.
He said that Italy issued some 550 student visas to Bangladeshis last year to pursue higher education in different Italian universities. He said
that Bangladesh and Italy have trade relations to the tune of 2 billion US dollars in which Bangladesh enjoys surplus trade. Bangladesh’s export to Italy recorded at 1.5 billion euros while Italy’s export to Bangladesh recorded at some 500 million euros. He said that the Italy-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) should be re-launched in Bangladesh soon to explore trade potentials.
President of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Architect Professor Dr. Abu Sayeed M Ahmed in his speech said that Bangladesh and Italy should share the experience in the creativities .
He said higher educational institutions should offer course on product designs in Bangladesh that can help the country to produce high –end products.
Architecture Fabio Novembre, Ambassador of Italian Design for Bangladesh in 2026, in his speech said that he came to Bangladesh to share his experience in the design and creativity with Bangladeshis entrepreneurs, designers and creators.
He will hold a seminar with stakeholders of Institute of Architects Bangladesh at Agargaon in the city on Thursday.
President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nuria Lopez also spoke on the occasion.
Famous Italian fashion designer and architect Fabio Novembre is in Dhaka to explore new avenues in Bangladesh. The textile , garment and ceramic sectors of Bangladesh have been one of the backbones of the Bangladesh economy. He will meet fashion designers, journalists and stakeholders during his visit to Bangladesh. He will also meet stakeholders in the furniture industry.
Fabio Novembre, an Italian architect and designer, was born in Lecce, Italy on October 21, 1966
He moved to Milan in 1984, where in 1992 he received a degree in architecture. In 1993 he lived in New York City where he attended a filmmaking course at the New York University. In 1994, he was commissioned to design his first project: the “Anna Molinari Blumarine” shop in London. In the same year he opened his own studio in Milan.
From 2000 until 2003 he worked as Art Director at Bisazza, contributing in the international growth of the mosaic tile brand. Since 2001 he has worked for Italian design brands such as Cappellini, Driade, Meritalia, Flaminia and Casamania.
In 2008, on behalf of the Municipality of Milan, the Rotonda di Via Besana museum housed an exhibition about his work, “Teach me the freedom of swallows”. In 2009, the Triennale Design Museum of Milan, invited Novembre to curate and design an exhibition on his work: “Il fiore di Novembre”. In 2010, the City of Milan was represented by an installation that he designed and curated in the Pavilion of Italy at Expo in Shanghai.
In 2009, Novembre designed an art installation, titled Per fare un albero, ‘To make a tree’, in conjunction with the city of Milan’s Department of Design, Events and Fashion and Fiat — featuring 20 full-size fiberglass planter replicas of the company’s 500C cabriolet along Via Monte Napoleone, Milan’s fashion center. The installation lasted several months.
2011 is the photography year: after art-directing of the exhibition “Lavazza con te partirò” at the Teatro dell’Arte of the Triennale of Milan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the company’s calendar; he also designed and curated the Steve McCurry exhibition at MACRO Testaccio, Rome. In April 2012 he signs the new exhibition setting for the fifth edition of Triennale Design Museum. In 2014, Casa Milan, the new headquarters of the A.C. Milan, were open, where all interiors are designed by Fabio Novembre.
