The campus of Eastern University came alive with new colors and energy in the joyous spirit of Bangla New Year. On the occasion of “Bangla New Year – 1433,” organized by the Eastern University Cultural Club, teachers, students, officers, staff, and alumni gathered together in a festive atmosphere that lasted throughout the day, a press release said.
The Chief Guest of the event was Eastern University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. In his address, he said, “Pohela Boishakh is not merely a date — it is a day to reconnect with our roots. A university is not only a center for the dissemination of knowledge, but also a place that nurtures culture and human values.” He extended his New Year’s greetings and wished everyone happiness, prosperity, and success.
The University Treasurer, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, remarked in his speech, “The New Year reminds us of how rich and diverse Bengali culture truly is. The cultural awareness our students are demonstrating through this celebration is truly inspiring.”
The University Registrar, Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, extended his New Year’s greetings and addressed the students, saying, “May those of you who will build the Bangladesh of tomorrow always carry your heritage with you as you move forward.”
Also present at the event were Deans of various faculties, department heads, officers, and staff members. The festivities featured a vibrant Boishakhi fair, a captivating cultural program, a flash mob, a bioscope (traditional peep show), a Ferris wheel, and stalls offering a variety of foods and handicrafts. The enthusiastic presence of students dressed in traditional attire gave the entire campus a uniquely festive charm.
The event was hosted by Abdullah Al-Fahad, Assistant Professor of the Business Administration Department. Overall supervision was handled by K.M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director of Student Affairs and Placement.
