The first-ever ‘BGMEA Open Golf Tournament 2026’ organized by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) was successfully completed today (25 April) at the Jalsiri Golf Club in Purbachal, near Dhaka. The current Board of Directors took this exceptional initiative with the aim of strengthening mutual relations and solidarity between domestic and foreign stakeholders related to the garment industry.
The tournament was successfully organized under the special initiative and overall supervision of BGMEA’s Sports Committee Director-in-Charge, Director Shah Raeed Chowdhury, Director Nafis-ud-Daula and Director Joarder Mohammad Hosne Qamar Alam.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan was present as the chief guest at the event and presented the awards to the winning golfers. In his speech at the event, the president said that this event should not be seen as just a golf tournament; rather, it is a unique celebration of the long-standing mutual trust, respect and unwavering friendship between our esteemed brand partners, buyers, diplomats and BGMEA members. The bridges of harmony that we have built today through the field game will further strengthen the unity of our industry in the coming days and strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global competition.
A total of more than 80 golfers, including domestic and foreign players, participated in the tournament. Among the participants were diplomats from various embassies in Bangladesh, senior representatives of international brands and general members of BGMEA. It was particularly noteworthy that the directors of the BGMEA board also spontaneously participated in this competition as players.
The members of the BGMEA Board of Directors, including Director Shah Raeed Chowdhury, Director Faisal Samad, Director Mohammad Abdus Salam, Director Nafis-ud-Doula, Director Majumder Arifur Rahman, Director Joarder Mohammad Hosne Qamar Alam, Director Mohammad Sohel and Director MD M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury, were present at the event.
Tournament Results:
BGMEA Apparel Club Committee Chairman and Friends Stylewear Limited’s A.M. Mahmudur Rahman won the ‘Champion’ and Arrival Fashion Limited’s Shafiqul Islam won the ‘Runner-up’ after displaying outstanding skills in the competition. Among the female golfers, Mrs. Haijang of Dada Dhaka Limited won the ‘Ladies Winner’. In addition, ALM Nishat Bin Zia of Amazing Fashion Limited was selected as the ‘Best Gross’ in the tournament.
In other categories, Niaz Ahmed Bhuiyan of Chittagong Fashion Specialized Textiles Limited won the ‘Longest Drive’ award and Salah Uddin Ahmed (Shamim) of IFS Texwear Private Limited won the ‘Nearest to the Pin’ award. An exciting raffle draw was held after the game, where Angelo Lee Nagy of A&E won the first prize.
BGMEA Director Mohammad Abdus Salam delivered the welcome address at the event.
