A large amount of marijuana and foreign liquor has been seized in separate operations by the Coast Guard in St. Martin’s and Chittagong. A drug dealer has been arrested during this time.
On Sunday (April 26) afternoon, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed this information.
He said that Coast Guard Station St. Martin conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to the Jetty Ghat of St. Martin at 6 pm on Saturday, April 25, based on secret information. During the operation, a suspicious service boat was searched and a drug dealer was arrested along with 2 kg of marijuana worth about 60 thousand taka.
On the other hand, Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted another separate operation in the area adjacent to the Chinese Ghat under Patenga police station in Chittagong at 4 am on Sunday, April 26. During this time, 215 bottles of foreign liquor worth about 88 lakh 15 thousand taka were seized from the area.
However, no one could be arrested in this incident as the drug smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard official said that further legal action against the seized marijuana, foreign liquor and the arrested drug dealers is under process.
He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the young generation from the terrible clutches of drugs.
