Navy seizes foreign firearms, ammunition, Yaba in Teknaf operation

The Navy contingent conducted a special operation in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar and recovered a large amount of Yaba, foreign firearms and ammunition.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release today that the Bangladesh Navy is conducting regular operations in its areas of responsibility to recover drugs, weapons, and suppress terrorism and crime. In continuation of this, the Navy contingent conducted a special operation in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Sunday night and recovered a large amount of Yaba, foreign firearms and ammunition.

The ISPR said that based on information received based on secret information, two well-organized expeditionary teams including the Bangladesh Navy’s Specialized Force SWADS conducted an operation in the Phul Dail area of ​​Hnila Union of Teknaf Upazila.

During the operation, the house of M Delwar Hossain, an associate of Bhutto Saiful, a warranted accused, was searched and 2 G3 rifles, one MA 1 rifle, eight magazines and 190 rounds of live ammunition and 10 rounds of empty cartridges were recovered. At that time, 28,000 pieces of Yaba stored for the purpose of smuggling were seized. Later, the recovered weapons, ammunition and seized narcotics were handed over to the concerned authorities.

Bangladesh Navy’s anti-narcotics operation, suppression of terrorism and crime and arms recovery operation are continuing in the areas under its responsibility including Teknaf. The Navy is working resolutely to ensure national security by increasing overall surveillance.
