The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 185 bottles of foreign liquor worth about 7 million taka during a raid in Patenga area of Chittagong. However, no one could be arrested as the smugglers fled during the raid.
On Thursday (April 30) morning, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed this information.
He said that the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted a special operation based on secret information in the area adjacent to Akmal Ali Switch Gate under EPZ Police Station in Chittagong at around 4 am. At that time, a total of 185 bottles of foreign liquor of different brands were seized from the scene, with an estimated market value of about 7 million taka.
During the raid, the drug smugglers quickly fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard. As a result, no one could be arrested in the incident.
The Coast Guard said it is in the process of taking necessary legal action regarding the seized liquor.
The agency said such operations will continue in the future to prevent the spread of drugs and keep the young generation safe.
