​Important instructions from CMP Port Traffic Department to ensure safe roads

As the number of different types of vehicles is increasing across the country, road accidents are increasing in line with it. According to the annual (2019) report of the ‘Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association’, a total of 5,514 road accidents occurred in the country in 2018. And 7,221 people died in these accidents. The main reason for these accidents is the tendency to drive without following traffic laws or ignoring the rules.

Therefore, to prevent these accidents, it is necessary to follow traffic laws and be aware.

The following traffic instructions are given to vehicle drivers-

What not to do-

1. Do not drive a vehicle on public roads without registration and permit issued by the appropriate authority.

2. No one should drive any type of vehicle on public roads without a driving license.

3. Do not drive at excessive speed and recklessly.

4. Do not drive a car after taking any kind of drugs or intoxicants.

5. Do not drive a vehicle when feeling headache or tired.

6. Do not honk the car horn unnecessarily.

7. Do not talk to passengers while driving.

8. Do not drive a vehicle with passengers exceeding the capacity dangerously.

9. Do not ride a scooter or bike with children on your lap.

10. Do not drive a car with a competitive attitude.

11. Do not talk on the mobile phone while sitting at the steering wheel.

12. Do not overtake when turning on the road if there is not enough space.

What to do-

1. Check the brakes, gears, components and tires before driving.

2. Keep the speed limit of the car under control.

3. Maintain a safe distance between your car and the car in front.

4. Wear a helmet while riding a scooter or bike.

5. Park vehicles in safe and designated areas.

6. Keep the speed of the vehicle very low in front of the school college. Give students a chance to cross with utmost care.

7. Make sure that students in school buses do not put their hands outside the window.

8. Wait in line at the stop line according to the traffic signal. Proceed only after receiving the passing signal from the traffic police on duty.

9. Vehicle drivers should keep an eye on the vehicles behind them with the help of the rear view glass.

10. Exercise caution while taking turns at road crossings where there are no traffic posts.
