The Department of Architecture at North South University (NSU) has proudly organized its 19th Architectural Exhibition, titled “First Step Towards Architecture.” The exhibition showcases the innovative work produced by students across several foundational studio courses, including ARC 111, ARC 112 and ARC 213, a press release said.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated on May 3 at 11:00 AM by the Department’s Chairman, Shahriar Iqbal Raj, alongside senior faculty members. The opening ceremony was attended by the esteemed faculty who led the studio courses, including Ar. Mujtaba Ahsan, Ar. Amity Kundu, Ar. Rishaad Mohammad Yusuff, Nawshin Ahmed, Ar. Aida Hassan, Ar. Shanjida Fatema Shamma, Eshana Nur Masud, and Jarifa Nasil.
The exhibition vividly illustrates the foundational journey into the architectural studio, highlighting the students’ diverse cognitive and learning processes through complex applications and creative problem-solving. Students were thrilled to present their projects to visiting parents and friends, showcasing the intense passion, dedication, and countless late nights poured into their designs.
As a recurring semester-end tradition, this event serves as a platform to highlight early design studio achievements. The NSU Department of Architecture consistently strives to build a robust foundation for its students, promoting active engagement inside the classroom while fostering socialisation and the development of a creative professional network. The event also drew visits from students of other architectural schools, who expressed immense appreciation for the exhibited works.
These impressive projects were developed under the dedicated guidance of the department’s faculty, whose mentorship empowered students to transform abstract ideas into tangible architectural expressions.
The Department expresses its deepest gratitude to all attendees who supported and encouraged the students by appreciating their creative endeavours. Through this experience, students have come to deeply understand that architecture is a rigorous academic pursuit requiring immense dedication. Ultimately, this exhibition exemplifies the dynamic and multifaceted thought processes unique to architectural education. It drives students to become empathetic and logical thinkers, ready to shoulder the responsibility of creating a more sustainable and livable built environment for future generations.
