In an effort to democratize digital entertainment, Banglalink, the country’s leading digital operator, and Toffee, the country’s premier digital infotainment platform, have launched the nation’s first-ever telecom-powered retail OTT subscription initiative across the country. This pioneering rollout allows anyone, including non-Banglalink users, to instantly purchase Toffee subscriptions directly from local retail outlets nationwide, a press release said.

This initiative will bridge the gap between digital entertainment and convenience. Customers can easily subscribe to Toffee from local stores without needing credit cards, app store accounts, or digital wallets. This ensures that premium OTT content is readily available to everyone, particularly users who are more comfortable with traditional retail transactions.

Toffee currently offers a diverse content library, along with access to watch all upcoming Bangladesh cricket matches. Its catalog also features international content from Lionsgate, alongside a vast selection of movies and TV series from around the world.

Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink, said, “At Banglalink, we have always championed a people-first approach, ensuring that our innovations truly serve the diverse needs of our communities. This initiative is a significant milestone in our journey to democratize digital content, as we believe high-quality entertainment should be an inclusive experience rather than a privilege for a few. By leveraging our extensive retail network, we are removing barriers for those without digital payment tools and effectively bridging the digital divide.”

Historically, premium OTT platforms have relied heavily on app stores and digital wallets, which can create a barrier for users without access to digital financial services. Now, by combining Banglalink’s massive nationwide retail distribution with Toffee’s diverse entertainment ecosystem, customers can simply visit their neighborhood store and subscribe in person.

Through this initiative, Toffee are redefining how entertainment is distributed, ensuring that top-tier digital content is just a neighborhood shop away for all Bangladeshis.
