PM attends Namaj-e-Janaza of ex-state minister Mizanur Rahman Sinha

DHAKA : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today attended the Namaj-e-Janaza of former State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mizanur Rahman Sinha.

The Namaj-e-Janaza of Sinha was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city around 11:30am, Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said.

Senior Pesh Imam of the Jatiya Sangsad mosque Abu Raihan conducted the Namaj-e-Janaza of Sinha, who was also the managing director of pharmaceutical company ACME Laboratories Ltd and Group.

Apart from the Prime Minister, JS Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, other cabinet members, lawmakers and political leaders and activists joined the Namaj-e-Janaza.

After the Janaza, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to Mizanur Rahman Sinha by placing a wreath on the coffin of the deceased.

Later, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal and others also paid tribute to Sinha by placing wreaths at his coffin.

Mizanur Rahman Sinha breathed his last at a hospital in Singapore on Friday night. He was 82.

Sinha was elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Munshiganj-2 constituency in 1996 and in 2001 as a BNP candidate.

He served as the State Minister for Health and Family Welfare in the cabinet of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia after the 2001 election.

Sinha also served the BNP central committee as the treasurer. Recently, he was appointed convener of the Munshiganj District BNP.
