UAE envoy meets PM’s defence adviser

DHAKA : Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Alhmoudi today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam.

The meeting was held at the office of the Defence Adviser at  Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment, where a two-member UAE delegation joined the discussions, said a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.

“During the meeting, the two sides exchanged greetings and discussed the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UAE, particularly ways to strengthen defence cooperation, exchange experiences and explore future areas of collaboration,” it said.

They also stressed further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries through enhanced defence and security cooperation, training, capacity building and professional exchanges.

Both the sides hoped that there remains significant scope for expanding defence cooperation between Bangladesh and the UAE based on the existing cordial ties, the release mentioned.

In the meeting, regional and global security issues also came up for discussion where both sides put emphasis on the continued constructive cooperation to promote peace, stability and security.
