DHAKA : The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) have jointly distributed humanitarian assistance among the displaced Rohingya people in Cox’s Bazar, reaffirming China’s continued support for the forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens.
Under the Chinese-funded initiative, the BRCS provided essential clothing and textile items to more than 5,000 displaced individuals, said a Chinese embassy’s press release here.
The assistance includes traditional Bangladeshi garments, scarves, sandals, and sewing machines aimed at supporting both immediate needs and longer-term livelihoods.
The distribution ceremony, held at a Rohingya camp on Tuesday, was attended by Dr. Liu Yuyin, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, and Md. Mijanur Rahman, Director of the BRCS National Headquarters.
Following the distribution, Dr. Liu toured parts of the Rohingya camps and interacted with both Red Crescent officials and camp residents.
He expressed China’s solidarity with the Rohingya people and reiterated Beijing’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in Bangladesh.
Officials said the project is part of ongoing bilateral cooperation between China and Bangladesh in addressing the Rohingya crisis through humanitarian aid and development support.
China has remained engaged in regional and multilateral discussions to find a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis, said the Chinese embassy.
