On June 23, 2025, the Annual Progress Review Meeting of the Education Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) KAAP-UUP Project was held at the head office of Dhaka Ahsania Mission in Dhanmondi, the capital. Director General (Additional Secretary) of NGO Affairs Bureau Md. Daud Miah, NDC was present as the chief guest at the event.
ISDB’s Country Coordinator Md. Arif Shahid, Founding Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, Vice President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Dr. Mohammad Khalilullah, Dr. S.M. Khalilur Rahman and Executive Director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Sajedul Qayyum Dulal were present as special guests. The meeting was presided over by Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Prof. Dr. Golam Rahman. Joint Director of Education and TVET Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Md. Moniruzzaman delivered the welcome address.
The annual progress review of the KAAP-UUP project-2025 was presented by the Coordinator-Monitoring and Evaluation Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman through a power point presentation.
At the event, Director General (Additional Secretary) of the NGO Affairs Bureau Md. Daud Mia, NDC said, we want a beggar and slum-free country. USAID is not funding us while other donor agencies may also decrease their funding, so we have to look at how to generate funds locally.
He also said, you are working with drop-outs, which means we are not able to get out from drop-outs. We have to target those who are moving from one place to another due to disasters. We have to look at climate change.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Professor Dr. Golam Rahman said, education will not be of any use if there are no good people. The motto of Dhaka Ahsania Mission is that the workers of Ahsania Mission should work by understanding it.
Bangladesh Open University Founding Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Shamsher Ali said, the government is doing many reforms but has not reformed education. No matter how many reforms it does, this country will never be right if people are not prepared. Whether there is a Moral and Ethics Education exam or not, the education from here will be for the one who comes out.
Joint Secretary of the Executive Committee of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Md. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, Executive Committee Members Dr. M. Ehsanur Rahman, Md. Abdus Salam Faruk, Md. Abu Masud, Project Specialist of KAAP-IsDB Md Monjur Murshid and representatives of home and foreign development organizations were present among others
It is to be noted that Dhaka Ahsania Mission is implementing the KAAP-UUP project with the financial support of the King Abdullah Humanitarian Foundation (KAHF) and the technical assistance of the PCO-IsDB .Through the project, underprivileged children are being provided education through three components of pre-primary, primary and junior secondary education. The project is being implemented in three areas of Mirpur and Mohammadpur in Dhaka district and Saidpur in Nilphamari district. The project is providing non-formal education (NFE) to 29,756 children in five years (from July 2020 to June 2025). In the meeting, students and community stakeholders requested to maintain the continuity of this project.
