DHAKA : On a rainy evening in Dhaka, MW Magazine Bangladesh, in collaboration with Maya, hosted a poetic monsoon celebration, “Maya- Badol Diner Prothom Kodom Phul” at the Sheraton Hotel. This unique event was a tapestry of song, poetry, and the quiet beauty of Bengal’s most romantic season, according to a press releasae.

In our heart monsoon is not just a season. It is an emotion that seeps into the soil of our most cherished memory. This essence was brought to life through soul-stirring performances: a solo musical presentation by acclaimed singer Shama Rahman, and a deeply moving recitation by iconic actor and director and unmatched artist Afzal Hossain. The event opened at 5 PM with guest arrivals and warm greetings, with the main performances beginning at 6 PM. Each performance subtly captured the joy, longing, defiance, nostalgia, tenderness, and romanticism of Monsoon.  The presence of Anjan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Toiletries Ltd., added heartfelt significance to the gathering.

This event felt like a living spark of monsoon. It returns again and again in our songs, literature, and folk tales like a familiar ache. Through music and verse, we felt the scent of wet soil, the shimmer of rivers, and the ache of time washing over them.

The evening featured remarks from the Editor and Publisher of MW Magazine Bangladesh, Ms. Rumana Chowdhury, and the CEO of Square Toiletries Ltd., Malik mohammed sayeed. Rumana Chowdhury shared, “The innocent joy of getting drenched in the rain during childhood, the heart stirred by stormy winds, and the image of holding a rain-soaked kodom phul while drifting into imagination quietly invite us to open the chest of memory. In those moments, a soft hum, a tune, or a familiar song begins to echo in our ears. That is the spirit we tried to capture in event.”

She also thanked Maya for once again standing beside MW in this cultural journey. Malik Mohammed Sayeed, on the other hand, spoke about MAYA’s core philosophy and its deep commitment to Bengali art and cultural heritage. In his view, Maya is not just a skincare brand; it is a celebration of beauty rooted in nature’s purity and the timeless aesthetics of Bengal.

He shared that most of Maya’s ingredients are sourced from the renowned herbal village of Natore. To preserve their purity, many of these ingredients are processed within just four hours of collection. Hopeful as ever and staying true to its roots, he expressed Maya’s promise to continue uplifting our natural beauty and timeless heritage with unwavering dedication.

The event was graced by several eminent personalities from the fields of media, business, culture, and the arts. Among the guests were editors Matiur Rahman and Mahfuz Anam, prominent businessman Anjan Chowdhury, writer Anisul Hoque, actors Zahid Hasan and Chanchal Chowdhury, A K Azad, Malik Mohammed Sayeed, architect Mustapha Khalid Palash, and cultural patron Abul Khair Litu. Also present were actors Arifin Shuvo, Afsan Ara Bindu, and Runa Khan and many more.

With its harmony of nostalgia and quiet modernity, “Badol Diner Prothom Kodom Phul” offered more than just performance. It was a call to remember, and a gentle permission to fall in love with the charm of monsoon once again. The audience was mesmerized by every note of Shama Rahman’s performance and every word uttered by Afzal Hossain.  The event was managed by Sun Communications Ltd. The program is scheduled to be broadcast on Maasranga Television at 10:30 PM on July 13, 2025.
