DIU welcomes freshers to new journey

Daffodil International University organizes the “Orientation Program Summer 2026” for newly admitted students at its Daffodil Smart City campus. Held on 11 May 2026, the vibrant program brings together around 5,000 freshers, marking the formal beginning of their academic journey.

Renowned Bangladeshi film, television, and stage actor Zahid Hasan attends the program as the special guest. The event is chaired by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, and is attended by deans of various faculties, department heads, faculty members, and administrative officials. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, welcomes the students through a video message, a press release said.

A “Club Recruitment Program,” organized under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs, features participation from all university clubs. Through different club booths, students had the opportunity to learn about co-curricular activities and join clubs of their interest.

One of the major attractions of the event was an experience-sharing session featuring successful alumni from the university’s five faculties. The speakers include ASM Arif, Creative Lead of Rancon Auto Division-2; Mehedi Hasan Bappy, Project Coordinator of the Youth and Adolescent Nutrition Program at Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and Advisory Board Member of AstraZeneca’s Young Health Programme; Nusrat Jahan, Principal Officer of Janata Bank PLC; and A. M. Tajuddin Ahmed, CEO of Akand Engineering. The speakers share their real-life professional experiences and provide valuable guidance to help students build their careers. They also encourage students to make full use of the modern technology and facilities at Daffodil Smart City and to develop themselves as skilled and confident professionals.

At the beginning of the program, the freshers are welcomed with flowers. Awards are presented to winners of various university sports events. Meritorious students from the previous semester are also recognized for their achievements. The program concludes with an engaging cultural performance by teachers and students.

The university authorities express hope that this orientation program helps new students quickly adapt to the university environment and supports them in achieving their future goals. The entire program is coordinated and managed by the Office of Student Affairs of Daffodil International University.
