NSU, Bangladesh Medical University sign MoU

North South University (NSU) and Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic cooperation, promote collaborative research, and advance joint initiatives in health sciences and related fields. The ceremony took place at Super Specialized Hospital at BMU, a press release said.

Bangladesh Medical University hosted the event. Present from BMU were Professor Dr. Md Shahinul Alam, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration); Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Hawlader, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research & Development); Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar, Treasurer; Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Registrar; and Dr. Sheikh Forhad, Proctor, along with all Deans and official witnesses of the MoU.

North South University was represented by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences; Professor Shazzad Hossain, Dean of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Dr. Norman Swazo, Director of Research; Dr. Cynthia McKinney, Director of External Affairs; Dr. Mohammad Monir Uddin, Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Physics; and Dr. Hasanuzzaman, Assistant Director of External Affairs.

During the program, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra delivered speeches underscoring the importance of this partnership and the opportunities it creates for enriched research capacity, academic exchange, and long-term institutional collaboration. Their remarks emphasized how both universities can jointly contribute to national and global advancements in medical and scientific research.

Dr. Mohammad Monir Uddin delivered a presentation outlining key areas of cooperation, potential research pathways, and a shared vision for future interdisciplinary projects. His presentation highlighted the significant academic value this MoU brings to both institutions.

The partnership between BMU and NSU is expected to create meaningful academic outcomes, drive innovation, and support the continuous development of education and research in Bangladesh.
