On Thursday (December 11) at 3 pm, the fire service said that a large-scale excavation is now underway. It can take more time to rescue the child.
Fire service personnel are continuing their efforts to rescue the child unharmed. Eight units of the fire service have joined the rescue operation. Three excavators are digging the soil.
On Wednesday (December 10), at around 12:30 pm, a child fell into a hole dug for a tube well in Koelhat Purbapara village of Pachandar Union in Tanor Upazila. The name of the child who fell into the hole is Sajid. He is the son of Rakib Uddin of Purbapara village.
In a last-ditch effort to rescue him, three excavators have dug up the surrounding soil. The rescuers are trying to dig a tunnel from the excavated area to enter the deep tubewell where the child fell. However, they are having difficulty due to the water and mud.
The depth of the hole is 150 to 200 feet, the fire service only reached 30 feet.
Cameras were sent into a 30-foot deep hole multiple times, but the child was not seen.
“Oh God, don’t be angry with my son.”
Earlier, fire service personnel lowered cameras into the borehole several times until late Wednesday night. But they were unable to identify the child due to the soil and straw falling from above inside the borehole.
Fire Service Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Taijul Islam said, “The child could not be found even at a depth of 42 feet above the ground. Therefore, there is no alternative to digging the surrounding soil to rescue him. That is what the Fire Service is currently doing.”
