DCV: Miscreants are carrying out an attack and vandalism at the offices of the daily newspapers Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, located in Kawran Bazar in the capital. They have set fire in front of the Prothom Alo office.
Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaisainyu Marma confirmed this information to the media.
The attack on the newspaper offices began around 12:00 midnight on Thursday (18 December).
The Tejgaon police OC said, “I am at the scene. Several hundred people have gathered here and carried out the attack.”
However, he could not confirm who took part in the attack.
Live videos circulating on social media show people carrying sticks and vandalizing the premises.
It has been reported that several journalists are trapped inside the Prothom Alo office.
