North South University’s (NSU) Department of Management, in collaboration with UNDP Bangladesh, organized a focused workshop titled “Responsible AI in Practice: Civil Society, Governance, and Accountability in Bangladesh” on 13 January 2026 at the SBE Dean’s Conference Room, NSU, a press release said.
The session brought together Sheela Tasneem Haq (UNDP Bangladesh), Dr. Zulkarin Jahangir (NSU), Dr. Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed (University of Toronto), Shafiqul Alam (Victoria University of Wellington), and Quazi Tafsirul Islam (NSU). The workshop was chaired by Dr. Ziaul Haq Adnan, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Management, NSU.
Dr. Zulkarin Jahangir, Assistant Professor, NSU, noted, “Responsible AI is not only a technical issue but a governance challenge. Without ethical frameworks and local context, AI risks deepening existing inequalities.”
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion on how academia, NGOs, and development partners can jointly promote more responsible, ethical, and accountable AI practices in Bangladesh.
