North South University (NSU) hosted its Spring Orientation 2026 program today at the NSU Plaza Area to welcome newly admitted students, a press release said.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman, National Security Adviser and High Representative for the Rohingya Issue, Chief Adviser’s Office, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, attended the event as the Chief Guest. The program was also graced by the presence of Aziz Al Kaiser, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, as the Special Guest. M. A. Kashem, Founder Member & Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, and Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member & Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, attended the orientation program as Guests of Honour. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, served as the Session Chair, alongside Dr Nasar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NSU.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the playing of the National Anthem, followed by a screening of the NSU documentary. NSU Registrar Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen delivered the welcome address to the new students.
Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Shazzad Hosain, Dean of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences; and Professor AKM Waresul Karim, Dean of the School of Business and Economics, attended the event, representing their respective schools.
A total of 68 students were awarded scholarships at various levels, including 23 recipients of 100 percent merit scholarships, in recognition of their outstanding performance in the Bachelor’s (Honours) admission test.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman said, “ Always remember that learning from books will not be enough. You will have to question things again and again and be immersed in creative learning. The future is in your hands, and I want to believe that our future is safe. So be brave, and don’t take no for an answer. Our forefathers never gave up, nor should you. “
Aziz Al Kaiser, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, said, “Your trust in NSU is deeply appreciated and sincerely valued. We regard this trust as a profound responsibility, and we remain steadfastly committed to nurturing our students with care, discipline and integrity. At NSU, we do not view our students merely as learners, but individuals who grow to become responsible, ethical, empathic and respectful members of society.”
Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member & Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, remarked, “NSU is not merely an institution that awards degrees; it is a place where dreams are built. Here, you will learn how to dream big, how to lead, and how to work for the betterment of others.”

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, NSU, said, “ It is not only about graduation and getting a degree, but it is also essential that you become a good human being. Without civic responsibility, the country will never grow, and our development will depend heavily on your contributions and transformation. “
While delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Nasar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NSU, said, “Remember, your parents invested their whole lives to put you in this position. So, you are responsible for giving back to your family, to your community, to your country. With that, I welcome you to the NSU family.”
The program concluded with a captivating cultural performance by members of the North South University Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS).
