The results of the national election were changed by keeping the nation in the dark during the counting of votes, alleged Professor Mujibur Rahman MP, the Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled “Iftar Mahfil in honor of distinguished people and the significance of Ramadan” organized by the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (FDEB) at the IDEB building in Kakrail in the capital on Friday (February 27) afternoon, he said that the vote was held after much movement and effort. As per the BNP’s proposal, the two votes were held on the same day, a press release said.
But now they do not want to accept the results of the referendum. He hoped that the good sense of the current government party would emerge. The Constitutional Reform Council would take oath in accordance with the verdict of the referendum. He said that the party expelled by the people will be rehabilitated as it is a betrayal of the July Movement. The program, chaired by FDEB President Engineer Md. Abdus Chattar Shah and moderated by General Secretary Engineer Zainul Abedin, was also attended by IDEB Convener Proco. Kabir Hossain, IDEB Joint Convener and FDEB Vice President Prof. Mirza Mizanur Rahman, FDEB Vice President Prof. Tayebur Rahman Jahangir, Joint Secretary Prof. Md. Abul Hashem, Joint Secretary Prof. Mostafa Kamal, Joint Secretary Prof. Md. Abdul Baten, Organizing Secretary Prof. Abdus Samad Sardar, President of PWD Diploma Engineers Association Prof. Muhammad Raihan Miah, President of Road and Highway Diploma Engineers Association Prof. Mominul Haque, etc. In his speech as a special guest, eminent educationist and former Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University Professor Dr. Korban Ali said, “The people of Bangladesh have seen many ideals in 54 years, but the ideological changes of the people have not happened. The people of this country have not had the fortune to see the beauty of Islam, good governance, establishment of human rights and ideological governance.”
