Md. Rashed Akhtar was elected as the president and Rashid-un-Nabi as the general secretary with the highest number of votes in the executive committee election of the traditional organization of bankers, Bankers Club of Bangladesh Limited, on February 27, a press release said.
A total of 46 candidates from the Bankers’ Unity Council and the Universal Bankers’ Council and 1 independent candidate participated in the election for various positions. The Bankers’ Unity Council panel won a total of 19 positions, including the president, general secretary, and organizing secretary, and the Universal Bankers’ Council panel won three executive member positions, including the social service secretary.
The voting and counting were completed in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
Those elected to other positions are Senior Vice President Subir Kumar Kundu, Vice Presidents Md. Mofazzal Mamun Khan and Md. Shafiqul Islam Fakir Pintu, Joint General Secretary Mohammad Khairul Hasan, Organizing Secretary Amin Md. Mehedi Hasan, Joint Organizing Secretary Md. Saidul Islam Pintu, Treasurer Shafiqul Islam, Publicity Secretary Md. Anwarul Islam Masud, Sports Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hasan Rana, Social Service Secretary Hasina Ferdous and Cultural Secretary Kazi Azizur Rahman.
Also elected as executive members are Mohammad Lutful Habib, M. M. Saiful Islam, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, A. K. M. Roknuzzaman Khandaker, Sharmin Akhter, Md. Shahin Uddin, Abed-ur-Rahman, Faisal Ahmed, Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Ajmeri Sultana.
It is to be noted that this executive committee, elected for the next 2 (two) years, will serve at Bankers Club of Bangladesh Limited.
The newly elected committee expressed gratitude to the members for their trust and support and pledged to build a strong organization based on the club’s overall development, member welfare, and unity.
