To make road travel more convenient and reduce traffic congestion, the Roads and Highways Department has introduced an automatic toll collection system at 14 major bridge toll plazas across the country. Under this system, vehicle users can now avoid long queues at toll booths and pay tolls automatically through their bKash accounts, a press release said.
After registering the vehicle in the bKash app, toll charges are automatically deducted from the customer’s account whenever the vehicle passes through any of the 14 designated toll plazas. The RFID sticker, attached to the vehicle’s windshield, is scanned at the toll point, which triggers the automatic deduction of the applicable toll from the user’s bKash account. This allows vehicles to pass through toll plazas smoothly without stopping.
The toll will be deducted even if the customer is not inside the vehicle at the time of crossing. Additionally, the payment will still be processed even if mobile internet is unavailable during the crossing. Once the toll is deducted, the customer receives a notification on their registered mobile number.

The customer needs to select the ‘Toll’ option on the home screen of the bKash app, click on ‘Register a Vehicle”, and provide the required information.
