One of the most visible and direct impacts of globalization is the change in the language and communication style of our younger generation. Nowadays, many children prefer to address their parents using foreign terms especially English words like “Papa,” “Mummy,” or “Mom” instead of traditional Bengali expressions. They frequently mix Bengali with English and Hindi in everyday conversations, considering it a sign of modernity. Moreover, the distortion of Bengali words is becoming increasingly common, clearly reflecting the growing influence of cultural degradation.

Obscenity, vulgarity, murder, robbery, and fraud are all different manifestations of this cultural decay. As a result, indigenous culture is gradually becoming less appealing to the younger generation. Western influence is evident in their clothing, language, and behavior. Consequently, we are slowly losing our rich heritage and centuries-old cultural traditions. In essence, this cultural degradation has deeply engulfed the entire nation.

In light of this concern, renowned businessman and prominent figure in the technology sector, former successful Chairman of Gopalganj Sadar, and son of a heroic freedom fighter, Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan Lutul, extended his Bengali New Year greetings to Bengali-speaking people living both at home and abroad, expressing hope for liberation from the grip of cultural degradation.

In a message technologist Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan Lutul stated that culture and life are inseparably connected. Every activity of individuals in society reflects elements of their culture. No society can deny its culture, in fact, culture and life complement each other. “Culture means living beautifully, diversely, and nobly.” In other words, the continuous efforts of human beings to live meaningfully constitute culture, whereas cultural degradation is its opposite. Such degradation corrupts individuals and stifles the development of life’s beauty, pushing it toward decay and loss of grace.

He further said that the arrival of the New Year brings joy and enthusiasm, overshadowing the sorrows of the outgoing year. As the last page of the calendar is turned, people collectively greet each other with “Happy Bengali New Year.” It marks a new beginning, a fresh journey filled with renewed energy, aspirations, and commitments. The excitement of leaving behind the past and embracing a new time creates a unique feeling. Preparations to welcome the New Year continue at every moment, and the journey begins with exchanging greetings among friends and loved ones.

He also added that just as the Bengali New Year begins with the aspiration to erase past grievances and start anew, people in Bangladesh, along with the rest of the world, celebrate the day with unity. It is customary to exchange flowers, sweets, gifts, and greeting cards with loved ones. Young people are especially active in these celebrations. Various events are organized, including music, dance, social gatherings, gift exchanges, and outings in colorful traditional attire.

He expressed hope that the New Year would awaken all Bengalis with renewed enthusiasm for peace, human values, development, and harmony. May the New Year bring joy, prosperity, and peace to all. He wished everyone good health and happiness with their families, hoping that every day of the New Year would be filled with joy.He concluded by extending heartfelt greetings, warm wishes, and congratulations to everyone on the occasion of the Bengali New Year.
